5/29/12, Tianjin, China: A young student performs the recorder in front of his peers during an outdoor residency community engagement event at Hongshuizhuang Central Elementary School, a Coca-Cola Project Hope School in Tianjin. A chamber ensemble comprised of Orchestra musicians including Principal Clarinet Ricardo Morales (pictured here in background), Principal Timpani Don Liuzzi, and cellist Ohad Bar-David also performed during the event as part of the Orchestra’s week-long residency activities. Coca-Cola is a Supporting Sponsor of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2012 Residency & Tour of China.

The guzheng is a traditional Chinese plucked zither that typically has 16 or more strings and moveable bridges.

5/29/12, Tianjin, China: Approximately 300 students, teachers, and invited guests attended the outdoor residency community engagement event at Hongshuizhuang Central Elementary School, a Coca-Cola Project Hope School in Tianjin. The students brought their own chairs into the school’s courtyard to watch the chamber ensemble perform.
