Day Twelve - Performing for Children and a Surprise Pop-Up … in an Airplane!

Today’s stories prove that anything can happen while we’re on the road, and that the most beautiful musical experiences can often be created in the most unassuming of places.

6/7/13, Bejing: When weather problems caused major flight delays, and Philadelphia Orchestra members were stuck on the tarmac for three hours waiting to fly from Bejing to Macao, First Associate Concertmaster Juliette Kang, violinist Daniel Han, violist Che-Hung Chen, and Acting Associate Principal Cello Yumi Kendall made lemons out of lemonade--giving an impromptu “pop-up” performance for the passengers on board.
