8/15/12, Saratoga Springs: Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and the Orchestra begin their SPAC rehearsal with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

 

8/15/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest soloist Joshua Bell joins Maestro Frühbeck and the Orchestra on the SPAC stage to rehearse Brahms’s Violin Concerto.

 

8/15/12, Saratoga Springs: Soloist Joshua Bell performs Brahms’s Violin Concerto with guest conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and the Orchestra. Bell last performed with the Orchestra at the 2012 Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, where he made his Vail debut.

 

8/15/12, Saratoga Springs: Soloist Joshua Bell performs Brahms’s Violin Concerto with guest conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and the Orchestra. Bell played his own solo cadenzas in the work. The evening program also included Frühbeck’s Brahms Fanfare on themes from the Fourth Symphony and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

 

8/16/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest conductor David Robertson and the Orchestra rehearse Auber's Overture to "Fra Diavolo" at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

 

8/16/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest soloist Yo-Yo Ma joins Robertson and the Orchestra during the day’s rehearsal for Saint-Saëns’s First Cello Concerto.

 

8/16/12, Saratoga Springs: The lawn and house both were packed for guest conductor David Robertson’s SPAC debut and cellist Yo-Yo Ma’s guest appearance with the Orchestra.

 

8/16/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest soloist Yo-Yo Ma performs Saints-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with conductor David Robertson and the Orchestra. The program also included Auber’s Overture to Fra Diavolo; Fauré’s Elegy, for cello and orchestra (for which Ma also performed as soloist); and Shostakovich’s First Symphony.

 

8/17/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest conductor Steven Reineke leads the Orchestra in rehearsal at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

 

8/17/12, Saratoga Springs: Vocalist Montego Glover rehearses “Almost Like Being in Love” from The Boys from Syracuse with Reineke and the Orchestra.

 

8/17/12, Saratoga Springs: Vocalist Tony DeSare rehearses “Luck Be a Lady,” from Guys and Dolls, with New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke and the Orchestra.

 

8/17/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest conductor Steven Reineke leads the Orchestra in a program titled “The Best Is Yet to Come: Sinatra and Beyond,” which featured a selection of hits for the screen and stage.

 

8/17/12, Saratoga Springs: Vocalists Montego Glover and Tony DeSare join Reineke and the Orchestra on the SPAC stage for a rendition of “Two Sleepy People.” The two vocalists were also featured soloists in a number of other works throughout the performance.

 

8/18/12, Saratoga Springs: Assistant Conductor Cristian Macelaru and the Orchestra start the day’s rehearsal with Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio italien.

 

8/18/12, Saratoga Springs: New York City Ballet dancers Tiler Peck and Chase Finlay rehearse onstage in the morning with Macelaru and the Orchestra at SPAC.

 

8/18/12, Saratoga Springs: Assistant Conductor Cristian Macelaru leads the Orchestra in an all-Tchaikovsky program during its final concert of the season at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

 
8/18/12, Saratoga Springs: New York City Ballet dancers Tiler Peck and Chase Finlay join Macelaru and the Orchestra onstage for a performance of Pas de deux, from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
 
8/18/12, Saratoga Springs: New York City Ballet dancers Tiler Peck and Chase Finlay returned once again to the stage during the second half of the program, joining Assistant Conductor Cristian Macelaru and the Orchestra for Pas de deux, from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The program also featured the composer’s Capriccio italien, Marche slave, Jurists March, and the famous 1812 Overture.
