8/8/12, Saratoga Springs: Yannick greets the Orchestra before they start their first rehearsal together at SPAC.

 

8/8/12, Saratoga Springs: Guest soloist Lang Lang joins Yannick and the Orchestra onstage at SPAC to rehearse Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

The program included Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville, Puccini’s “Che gelida manina,” from La bohème and “Sempre libera,” from La traviata, and Verdi’s Overture to La forza del destino, among other works.

 

8/9/12, Saratoga Springs: The Orchestra’s “Italian Opera Night” concert featured two up-and-coming American singers: soprano Angela Meade and tenor Bryan Hymel.

8/11/12, Saratoga Springs: Composer Jennifer Higdon joins Yannick and the Orchestra on stage following their performance of her Concerto for Orchestra at SPAC. Yannick and the Orchestra also performed the work in Verizon Hall during a December 2011 subscription concert series.

 

8/11/12, Saratoga Springs: Yannick and composer Jennifer Higdon acknowledge the soloists in her Concerto for Orchestra following the Orchestra’s performance of this work at SPAC. Ms. Higdon wrote solo parts for this concerto with specific Orchestra musicians in mind.

 

8/11/12, Saratoga Springs: The stage is reset for the second half of the performance. The evening program also included Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto featuring soloist Arabella Steinbacher and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2.
